Timothy Keller's Counterfeit Gods: when something/one other than God sits on the throne of our hearts

Counterfeit Gods by Tim Keller

IDOLS are things, ideas, people, or entities we value more than God. We're all idolaters in our own ways, satisfying our lives with money, sex, power, good works, and, yes, even religion, instead of God Himself.

In Counterfeit Gods, author Tim Keller identifies the root of idolatry, evaluates and describes its effects in a person's life, and points to Christ as the remedy. Keller gives real-life examples, situating the problems to actual historical events. In each chapter he zeroes in on one Biblical character and ends by describing one kind of idolatry in the light of Christ's example. I highly recommend this.
