Beating the summer heat

I SPEND most of my afternoons at the mall. The heat is too hard to beat, and I could use the free air conditioning. I can always stay at home, turn the AC on full blast for the entire day, but my roommates will blame me for the spike in the electric bill.

I'm not a fan of malls; I don't adore them either. I can't stand shopping, for example—it makes me sleepy. I wish malls had beds, where customers can take power naps after, say, a hearty lunch. I won't mind paying P50 for 30 minutes of undisturbed sleep.

But I like reading in a quiet café, all by myself, drowned in anonymity while my imagination is somewhere else. Passersby probably look at me and think, "There's a sad boy," because it's not so usual in our culture to be alone. In public, anyway. But I like it just the way it is.

In the days to come I'll meet up with old friends. For now, though, I want to take this time off, all to myself.

Also, is it just me who doesn't miss PGH at all? Twenty more days before internship begins, then I'm back to the old grind.

I'm surprised you noticed. I lost the html code when I did a redesign. Sigh. You have any idea which rotation you're starting with? I hope I get to go on duties with you.
