The Cold Light of Day for a whopping Php 50

Whenever I go home, I make it a point to watch at least one movie in cinema. KCC Mall is nearer and has four cinemas. If the movie houses there are packed (which rarely happens), I go to Gaisano Grand Mall (formerly FitMart Mall), which is nearer the new city hall site. The movie houses are not as huge as those in, say, SM North Edsa, but they are clean, not too crowded, with good movie and sound quality.

Tickets are sold cheaply in this part of the country. Forget the fact that the screening is one or two weeks late. Php 50 is still way cheaper than the usual Php 150-ticket price in Manila. If I go to GenSan, I can watch a 3D film at Robinson's Mall for Php 120. I know. Life is fun here.

My first film this break: The Cold Light of Day.

Wall Street trader Will Shaw (Henry Cavill) visits his family in Spain. They have a yacht. He decides to swim back to shore to buy something, and when he gets back to the boat, his family isn't there anymore. He goes to the police who don't help him. He finds out that his family has been taken away. Where are they? Who kidnapped them? We see him helpless. If I were in his position, I wouldn't know what else to do, too.

His father (Bruce Willis) jumps right at the people who chase after him. He learns that his father is a CIA agent, and his enemies have held his family hostage. His father tells him, "You are a good son" or something like that; minutes later, his father gets shot. (Bruce Willis fans will be disappointed.) He is devastated. He has nowhere else to go.

He finds friends, meets a gorgeous Spanish step-sister, and eventually rescues his family.

It's not much of a movie, just enough to rescue me from the hot afternoons at home. For Php 50, that wasn't such a big deal.
