Round

NEW glasses in the house. Not new, technically—they were my brother's before he realized he didn't like the shape. Too hipster for his taste, I suppose. And I hate that label—hipster. It hardly means anything.

The glasses remind me of C. S. Lewis or Dietrich Bonhoeffer or Eric Metaxas, who wrote about Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Oh, and Vladimir Nabokov, too.

The daughter of one of our patients complimented me on my new frame. She works at the popular eye store chain and promised me she'd give me a discount if I paid a visit.

"Ano'ng grado mo, Dok?" she asked.

"Hindi naman ganoon ka-taas. Mga 500-plus."

"Ang taas n'un! Dapat nag-ultra-thin kayo."

"Mahal 'yun, eh. Besides, mas gusto ko 'yung naduduling ang ibang tao kapag tinititigan ako."
