Encapsulating Christmas

Lenny Magalit, recently diagnosed with breast cancer, sang at the YCF Christmas party at Kuya Dave's this evening.

Her song? A musical version of John 3:16, one of the verses that best encapsulate the meaning of Christmas.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I'm thankful for Christ-centered Christmas parties. Yes, they still exist, but it's sad that not everyone gets to experience them.

With the popular unbiblical notions of Santa Claus and his reindeers, the celebration has lost its meaning.

Instead of proclaiming Christ's message of redemption to sinners, people highlight “giving” as the central theme. But it is God giving His only begotten Son for us that must be given the most importance, not us giving material gifts to others.

Christmas is a celebration of Christ. Take Jesus out of the picture and all these lights, trees, and carols lose their meaning.
