Block Photo 1: Psychiatry (May 1-7, 2013)

I ASKED my block if we'd care to have our group photo taken. For posterity, I said. "We should invest in memories" were my words exactly. Agnes said yes, she'd bring a camera. The next day I noticed that she carried a bulky handbag. When I inquired what it was (I was hoping she had brought homecooked meals to share with everyone), she said, "Didn't you ask me to bring a camera? Here it is."

An SLR, ladies and gentlemen. Just what I've always dreamed of having: a blockmate who knows ISOs, shutter speeds, and the Golden Period. I told her we should make it a ritual of sorts: the post-rotation portrait.

So here we were, after the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry rounds, posing with the craziest, nicest, most superstitious ("The night before and during the 24-hour duty, 'Don't wear red, don't eat pansit, don't do dirty living'") set of residents and fellows who made our first internship rotation fun.

UP PGH Department of Psychiatry

Block F at Ward 7. From right: Franco Catangui (UP), Charlie Clarion (Davao Medical School Foundation), Agnes Custodio (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila), myself, Joseph Castillo (UP), Jegar Catindig (UP), and Miguel Catangui (UP). Missing were Bernie Cid (Far Eastern University) and Richson Chy (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila).

Block F

The half of us rotating in Psychiatry. Here Casti somehow found the need to emphasize he possesses the reddest (there's such a word) lips in the world.

Psychiatry Rotation (May 1-7, 2013)

Bernie and Rich, don't miss our block photo sessions for the world. Next time you'll both stay in the middle—you had better get your smiles ready.

Nice post, lance! :-) and I'm not saying it because we're also in it...but because I like your vibe and positive attitude. Further along, you'll probably encounter more "difficult" and less superstitious situations, but let me just say, a positive outlook really helps.

Stay cool! :-)

Golden Period — the time when the light is diffuse and therefore is perfect for photography. It's between 4 to 5 pm.
