My desk space

After I posted this tweet in Facebook, friends have been asking me how my study table is. The choice of a study table is crucial to any pretentious serious student. It can make or break you; it can motivate or discourage you to study. Choosing a desk is as important as choosing your mechanical pencil leads or highlighter colors. But maybe that's just me. Or my classmate, Lee-Ann Caro.

I bought a new study table because the older one had limited desk space. It was one of those desks whose surface could be folded, fooling the casual observer that it was  a cabinet of sorts. If, say, I had my laptop on my table—and I like doing that—I wouldn't be able to write comfortably in the remaining space.

So one Saturday, I bought one in Handyman store at Robinson's. It sold cheaply: Php 1500, compared to the usual office table prizes in BLIMS or other furniture shop. I paid for door-to-door delivery (roughly Php250), but one has the option to have it disassembled in the store, so it could fit in the car.

I watched this mini-documentary (thanks for the link, Tin Canlas) whose take-home message is: your desk tells a lot about how you think and how you work.

Here are photos of my desk taken this afternoon.

Books are neatly arranged below.

My classmate, Laureen Lukban, gave this to me last Christmas, one of the best gifts I got. It's now a fixture of my working area. Pretty cool, don't you think?

Bottled Brain

I see from my window the Pearl Hotel Manila, NBI Main Building, the Supreme Court, and the LRT.

I wonder what my desk says about me.

You desk says you're a serious med student, an organized person and a bookworm. :) It also says you're diligently working for the glory of the LIVING GOD! :)

Hi Kuya Lance! Now I want a desk for myself. :) hehehe

Pao, thank you. Praise be to God for the opportunity He has given me to pursue higher education.

Most of the time, my space is cluttered and disorganized, but I try to keep it clean. Lest I make the wrong impression, the organization of the desk as seen in the photo is inversely proportional to that of the rest of the room.

What's keeping you from buying one?

Oh, that mug. You must be referring to the older one I had in Yakal which you don't see here. But it's still with me, Mike.

I know, right? The drawing is so cool. I'm planning to make it an official logo of this site. Just a little image editing, that's all.
